Beefcake boulevard

For one week and one week only, a quite spectacular change of pace and approach here at Sport. You see, we’re frequently accused of cheap, knuckle-dragging chauvinism for running our Lady Profile at the back of the magazine each week, despite it serving a very valid purpose of showcasing great talent. In their pants. So, to redress the balance, here’s a shot of the hunky Aussie water polo team posing for their Olympic Games portrait at Bondi Icebergs last week. Don’t worry though, we promise we won’t do it again.

Two of our favourite things

No, the 'girl page' hasn't made it onto the iPad. So don't rejoice (too much) just yet. This is actually Liz Gorman of the Tampa Breeze posing during the Lingerie Football League - yes, it exists! - media call at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia. And we were talking about lingerie and football, by the way.

Olympic barge

We're sure these four blokes hadn't bargained on this when Joanne Gregory was chosen to carry the Olympic Torch. But here they are, muttering obscenities under their breath (probably) while lugging her and her precious cargo on a hand drawn canal boat across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct – a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Llangollen, Wales.

Stretching the realms of possibility

It's what Rafael Nadal does - seemingly every time he takes to clay. Here, he's reaching for a forehand during his men's singles second round match against Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan at Roland Garros.

Pop it up

Kevin Durant (#35) of the Oklahoma City Thunder goes up for a shot against Tiago Splitter (#22) of the San Antonio Spurs in Game Five of the Western Conference Finals of the 2012 NBA Playoffs at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
